The 6N136 optocoupler consists of an AlGaAs LED optically coupledto a high speed photodetector transistor.
A separate connection for the bias of the photodiode improvesthe speed by several orders of magnitude over conventionalphototransistor optocouplers by reducing the base-collectorcapacitance of the input transistor.
